Description

The Association of Veterinary Hematology and Transfusion Medicine (AVHTM) is creating consensus guidelines for small animal veterinary blood banking.  The guidelines will concentrate on 4 key domains: 1. Blood donor considerations; 2. Blood donation and collection; 3. Transfusion products and blood component processing; 4. Blood product storage and quality assurance.  In order to refine what areas and questions the guidelines will address, a survey was created and disseminated to the veterinary blood banking and transfusion medicine community.  This lecture will highlight and discuss some of the most interesting survey results.
