Description

The neurological patient can become a difficult case to manage. Not all patients need advanced diagnostics or referral. This presentation focuses on primary practice diagnosis and treatment of the neurological patient and what to do after diagnosis. Commonly used pharmaceuticals for painful conditions will be outlined. Rehabilitation modalities such as PNF and other manual techniques to aid in normalizing tone, addressing proprioception, and optimizing function will be discussed. Patient-specific rehabilitation exercises and a carefully set up program that focuses on functional recovery will be outlined, making patient management easier for owners and veterinary staff members. New information on the treatment of Degenerative Myelopathy will be provided.
